ORIENTATION SESSIONS
New students are expected to attend an orientation session before beginning their classes. This applies to all students taking a Basic, Superior or Intensive course. Students taking Introduction to Catering will also attend an orientation session. The date and time for orientation will be indicated in the student’s registration package. During the orientation session students will:
- Be introduced to the Ottawa faculty and staff;
- Be given a brief summary of the Institute’s history, philosophy and programs;
- Review the policies and procedures of the Institute;
- Receive their course manual(s) and schedule details;
- Receive their equipment and uniform items from the school boutique;
- Have their photo taken for a student ID card;
- Tour the building and facilities;
- Confirm their contact information and registration status with the Administration, and
- Meet other new students.
EQUIPMENT AND UNIFORM
All required equipment and uniform items, except for safety shoes, are included in the tuition fees.

ESTIMATED EXPENSES
The following are approximate estimates of monthly living expenses associated with studying at Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa:
- Rent (rental of a room in someone’s house, includes utilities): $500.00 CAD
- Transportation (bus pass, if needed): $70.00 CAD
- Food: $200.00 CAD
- Phone (basic services): $25.00 CAD
- Laundry: $40.00 CAD
- Miscellaneous (clothing, toiletries, long-distance phone charges, etc.): $75.00 CAD
The following are approximate estimates of fixed expenses associated with studying at our Institute:
The above amounts do not include the costs of:
- Tuition fees;
- Transportation to and from Canada;
- Health insurance, and
- Student visa application fee, if needed.
The student’s course manuals are included in the tuition fees. There are no other administrative fees charged to the student during their studies except in the case of replacement fees for lost items.

LANGUAGE LESSONS
Courses at Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa are taught in English. Students who wish to improve their English or French language skills while studying in Ottawa may obtain further information on courses offered by the Alliance Française. The Alliance Française offers a specialized French language program that focuses on culinary terms.
